Promoting Well-being

Providing our residents with stimulating, interesting activities is a very important part of maintaining and improving their quality of life. Our activities co-ordinator works hard to source activities to keep our residents engaged and entertained, whilst also ensuring they offer physical and mental benefits too.
Keeping active is a key aspect of promoting well-being.  Matching the right activity to each resident's individual physical and cognitive capabilities is an important aspect when choosing our activities.  We ensure we have a wide variety of activities on offer for our residents to choose from.  Activities can be enjoyed individually or in groups if a particular activity is suitable for a number of residents. Those activities include:-

  • Craft sessions
  • Reminiscence activities
  • Weekly chair aerobics
  • Regular entertainers
  • Pet therapy
  • Aromatherapy
  • Sing-a-longs
  • Games afternoons
  • Slide shows
  • Beauty therapy

One-to-one Activities - This allows for residents to have one to one sessions with staff, particularly beneficial for residents with dementia, allowing staff to focus on the individual and allowing them to find the most appropriate activities to meet their needs and abilities.

Group Activities - This provides a chance for resident to socialise, remaining socially active and maintaining interpersonal relationships.  This can also help to maintain good physical and emotional health and cognitive function.

Trips / Outings - A variety of trips and outings are arranged for our residents on a regular basis, allowing them to visit local attractions such as Millhouses Park or the Botanical Gardens. Trips to the coast or to Clumber Park take place during the summer months, giving residents a chance to enjoy fish and chips by the seaside and a short walk. A small group trip to Waitrose for a coffee and a chat can be arranged at short notice.
